E-Portfolios... HELP ME PLEASE

I know it's holidays but I just want to get my head around e-portfolios. Next year our year 5/6 team will be trailing e-portfolios. Not only do I think this will be incredibly motivating for the children, but we'll also help save the trees!

The thought of being able to have video clips of the child demonstrating their learning and then reflecting on how well they achieved, really excites me.

The issue is however... I don't know where to start.

I'd love help from anyone that has used e-portfolios in their school. Also if you have any links to readings, I would really appreciate it.

I have bookmarked Nick Rate's blog and I have already started a reading list for my holidays! http://nickrate.com/?s=e+portfolios

Thanks in advance for your support :)

  1. Hi,

    More than happy to 'chat'.

I started by looking at ePortfolios some 5 years ago and have worked almost non-stop on them ever since. More recently some of my posts have been addressing issues with adult learners, but then, if you see an ePortfolio as both lifelong and lifewide issues relating to older students need to be adressed!

Perhaps my blog is the first place to start but you will find much more material in my other links as below. The Issuu documents are best read in 'FullScreen' mode.

    Best Wishes,

  2. Hi Brenda

Just saw your post :+) I have been on an e-Portfolio journey researching and implementing them in my school in Tauranga since 2008. You can read about my journey at http://lietze.org/?cat=12 Have a look at the older posts first if you want as they explain why and how we implemented e-Portfolios and what platform we used. It may help clarify some of your thoughts.

  3. Thanks Ray & Jamin for your comments. I have enjoyed having a read of your links you posted.

I met up with James Rea (DP @ Russell Street School) and he talked me through their E-Portfolios using EduBlog.

I'll let you know how I get on once school starts and we start using E-Portfolios.

    Thanks Heaps
    Brenda
